The Lamp and Endtable represent generic Americana, a symbol of an American rather than the actual object. The photography focuses on Western North America encompassing concepts in Manifest Destiny; How the West was Won; and the Last Frontier. It relates to environmental issues, American History, consumerism, and as it progresses, the household and family. In painting and sculpture I explore this concept repurposing household products which bring the L & E full circle: from a home to the wilderness, and returning to the home with intent to respect nature in the process. This project began in 2003, and I plan to work on it indefinitely. As it continues to develop, it’s an obsession. Moreover, I am documenting the changes in our environment thru it.
