"...Geoff Tuttle’s work is an extension of his keen sense of intellectual curiosity and his fascination with constructing mechanical and electronic devices that feel subversively confrontational and uncompromising, yet elegantly reserved. Tuttle describes his work as “developing a subjective ideology regarding the preservation of individuality in an increasingly homogeneous social environment.” Inspired by the Situationist International (SI), the European Art/Political movement of the 1960’s, his electrical pathways and mechanical constructs are investigations of social restrictions, power structures, notions of justice, happiness, and satisfaction that suggests an aesthetic kinship with film and literary masterpieces such as Brazil, Clockwork Orange, 1984 and Fail-safe..." |
