"...My most recent series of figure paintings incorporates various back grounds with the intention of giving the figure a sense of place without relying on depicting a realistic cityscape or landscape for them to live in.  About a year ago I began using chalkboard and map backgrounds to give my images specific meanings.  These backgrounds are already loaded with ideas such as dread and adventure.  This series continues today and I hope that the viewer gets a sense of both nostalgia and foreboding as I do from these pieces."
